Jillian Bain-Christie
Jillian Bain Christie is a Scottish visual artist and soprano currently based in Norwich. She is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London.
Jillian’s current work practice includes printmaking, paper cut, and mixed media collage, frequently taking inspiration from Nordic and Scottish landscape and history. Many of her works incorporate sculptural elements, postage stamps, cartography and old musical scores into the finished pieces.
Recent exhibitions and events have featured multi-disciplinary works including set design and installation as well as more traditional 2D works on paper.
Jillian’s own electroacoustic vocal work An Gleann Sàmhaichte was shortlisted for the 2023/24 Scottish Landscape Awards, and was premiered at the City Arts Centre, Edinburgh.
Selected projects include artist residencies in Iceland, Aberdeenshire, North Wales, and the JAM on the Marsh Festival, Kent; soundscapes featured as part of festivals in Kloster Kappel, Zürich, Switzerland, ELIA NOW, Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Biblioteca viva Egaña, Santiago, Chile; production direction for Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society and the University of Aberdeen Opera Society; and a solo exhibition at the Barbican Library, London.
