Leanda Jaine
I graduated as a mature student from Norwich University of the Arts in 2014, with a
1st class BA in Illustration. This is where I discovered and fell in love with print. It
was a pivotal moment in my creative world which defined my illustration career.
All my prints start from one of my hand drawn illustrations. The original series, an
A-Z of Norwich, was born out of my interest in psychogeography and memory
which I explored while studying for my degree. I went on to create several versions
of these.
I am currently exploring the idea of using a limited colour pallet to suggest the
image rather than a detailed multi layered print. My Oystercatcher print is a good
example of this. By simplifying the image it allows the viewer to use their own
imagination.
I like to use embossing on my prints, I’d liken this subtle embossing to the veiled
nostalgia many of my customers feel when viewing these pieces, relating them to
their own memories of these places, subjects or experiences.
I currently have a working studio and shop in Holt which showcases all my work.
