Neil Bousfield
I work in relief print using the traditional techniques of wood engraving and woodcut. My practice explores the landscape narrative of the North Norfolk coast near my home, drawing on a personal connection to these places.
More recently, larger woodcuts have returned to my work following the purchase of a larger Albion Printing Press last summer. These wave woodcuts reflect the ongoing impact of coastal erosion, sea surges, and rising sea levels on Norfolk villages situated on the edge of the coast. The image of a large wave, a symbol of both power and persistence, serves as a metaphor for the enduring challenges faced by coastal communities as they contend with an uncertain future shaped by climate change.
I am an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE).
