Artist Statement
ZacronAs a child, I was drawn to lino cutting, paper cutting after Victorian techniques, and paper sculpture most fashionable during the 1920’s. I have always been an incessant draughts-man, painter, image archive builder and photographer.

I studied for the Rome Scholarship in etching and engraving, much encouraged by Reginald Brill. I worked continually on location, in theatres, fairgrounds, ice rinks and rock concerts; this helped to discipline my use of line. At the Royal Academy Schools I continued to work from the human form and became established as an artist in the London scene of the sixties. David Hockney explored my drawing research and Peter Blake, with whom I have toured in recent years, was influenced by my use of collage.

It is only in recent years that I have mastered the computer as a multi-media printmaking tool together with digital photography and meticulously hand-cut collage, together with wet and dry media. The computer has given me wings as hand generated images may be layered together with photography, even drawing and painting, as well as other printmaking techniques.

As an artist who has worked as a serious media commentator and journalist, and who continually researches history, astronomy, archaeology and all aspects of human behaviour, I feel very much of this time but linked to earlier and more ancient times. I am dedicated to hand-generated print techniques and equally to state-of-the-art commercial print processes, also an exciting means of creating image production.
