Artist Statement

My etchings are inspired by visits to Natural History Museums where I am drawn to the miscellany of stuffed animals, antiquated dioramas and the atmosphere of these wonderful places.
Printmaking is central to my practice. Sketchbook drawings are reworked in aquatint. I enjoy the methodical repetition of etching and the richness of line and tone achieved. Ultimately my practise is driven by responses to my surroundings, highlighting curiosities and absurdity whilst remaining grounded in observation and realism.
I graduated from Cumbria Institute of the Arts in 2005 with BA Hons Fine Art. Originally from Northern Ireland, I moved to Norfolk in 2007 and have participated in both group and solo exhibitions in Cyprus, Finland and Norway.
