Artist Statement

I trained at Walthamstow School of Art as a painter under Stuart Ray and Margaret Green with Peter Blake and Ken Russell.

My printmaking currently runs alongside my painting and I prefer woodcut printmaking as it gives me the opportunity to create strong images. I use a variety of woods and it has become addictive when ever I see a piece of wood looking at the grain and possibilities, I have even had my eyes on sections of people’s dining tables.

I am influenced a lot by the German Expressionists. I belong to Sudbourne Park Printmakers and use the Columbian or smaller Albion printing press. I like to push the boundaries of printmaking, often thinking that I have discovered something new, only to find out that it has been done before.
