Hilary Evans
For most of my career I have worked in partnership with my husband as an illustrator. I joined a printmaking class to learn the intricacies of etching and the graphic qualities of Lino printing. Once I had gained experience of the various techniques I was able to explore my own ideas.
I have always had a preference for pattern and colour. I find the natural world an area of inspiration as well as building structures and landscape. I enjoy abstracting pattern forms from almost anything so my source material is quite varied.
I enjoy building layers and textures onto card to make a collagraph plate this being my preferred method of printing at present. Also I find the different processes of making an etching plate absorbing. Usually I produce individual prints in a variety of colours rather than print editions.
