Artist Statement

The work is primarily based on aspects of isolation in which atmosphere, environment and its inhabitants are the main elements.
It is an attempt to ‘freeze’ a fraction of time where light reveals a detailed glimpse of the whole, intimating the balance between claustrophobia and agoraphobia.
I have always been fascinated by the transition between daylight and dusk, dawn and daylight and the curiosity of darkness.
Times of stillness, as if nature takes a breath before committing to the next phase; in a sense the ‘spirit of a place’
