Artist Statement
Bronwen EdwardsCurrently I have three main subject matters. A relative newcomer to Norfolk I have enjoyed using screen-prints to depict historic landmarks of the county. These images have taken the form of contemporary, quirky works that explore rhythm and humour. They are intended to bring a smile to the participator and show a familiar scene in a new light.

A more conservative subject matter includes 'cat' prints. I tend to use a traditional style of linocut as well as developing into more unusual methods of printing onto fabric and exploring padding and stitching. The most serious and longest running of these themes includes the larger figure, a topic that has been a continuation of my degree work. This has been researched by the use of collagraphs, monoprints and etchings, then printed onto an array of surfaces in order to establish the many complex issues this subject entails.

More recently I have explored the process of screenprinting and this has enabled me to create semi-abstract images that concentrate on line, form, pattern and colour. These images find the figure and environment as one, anchored and lucid but ill defined and seen in part.

As well as exhibiting my own prints I am interested in developing small printmaking workshops. I was part of the first 'craft taster' day initiated by the Wymondham Arts Forum, which aimed to give creative and non-creative people alike, the opportunity to take part in a new medium or technique.

I have found the collaborations with poets exciting as part of the Fakenham Print Festival and the Inprint touring exhibition, giving an opportunity to explore a variety of styles and subjects whilst exhibiting in a relaxed, informal environment.
