Artist Statement
Anthony DuniganI was introduced to wood engraving by Michael Renton at Hastings School of Art in 1968. Before that I had been a cartographer with a map production unit in H.M.Forces and therefore was attracted to the precise craft. My work is mainly topographical and focuses on the eastern counties, especially their mills and churches, always with the emphasis on careful drawing, which engraving demands. To enable me to produce larger scale prints I also engrave on lino and plastics, which are a useful and inexpensive alternative to wood and the same skills and processes are required.

I gained a Diploma in Fine Art from the City and Guilds of London Art School in 1974. My Paintings and prints have been widely exhibited and included in shows at the Royal Academy Business Art Gallery and the Mall Galleries. I have fulfilled many private commissions for paintings of domestic and church architecture, and I am an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers.

After many years on the admin staff of my old school, the City and Guilds, I moved to Oulton, near Lowestoft, in 1999.
