Artist Statement

In 2009 I have experimented with a variety of materials within my printmaking, especially the support material. I have used handmade felt and paper as well as a variety of Japanese papers.

To achieve a vibrant result I have had to produce my plates very carefully discarding parts that did not work with he support materials. In order to unify the images I have used fashion shoes as my subject and the resulting prints are fun with a rich velvety quality.

Although I can print the same style again, no two prints will ever be exactly the same. This is impossible due to the unique quality and colour of the handmade felt. These prints have been produced using the collagraph method of printmaking.
