Artist Statement
In 2005 the focus of my work was children’s book illustration. I was commissioned by a local author to produce a series of sixteen prints which depicted activities involving movement and stillness and the childlike discovery of the joy in both. The resulting images were produced using drypoint plates inked carefully in individual colours. When printed, no further enhancement was used.

In the summer of 2005 I was inspired by memories of seaside holidays from my own childhood. My ideas led to a small edition of prints that look back to a time when ladies wore their best dresses on the beach and we all sat in deckchairs! These prints are also drypoint but have been hand coloured to enhance the atmosphere. I have also experimented with a variety of plate cutting tools and ‘wiping’ methods. ‘Contemplation’ and ‘Ladies in Waiting’ are two examples of this work.

I have also run workshops for Artist and Illustrator in Islington, London, Kelling Heath Holiday centre and at my own studio in Summerfield, Docking.
